The Alienist is an American period drama based on a novel by Caleb Carr of the same name on TNT. It is a psychological thriller set in 1896. A series of homicides involving boy prostitutes in New York has the authorities baffled. So, the new police commissioner Teddy Roosevelt seeks the assistance of Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, a professional criminal psychologist also known as an alienist in those days. John Moore, a newspaper illustrator by profession, is asked to conduct the investigation secretly. Also, part of the team is Sara Howard, a secretary at the police headquarters.
