The Orville is for all intents and purposes a Star Trek parody produced for Fox. Set 400 years in the future it details the adventures of a Star Trek type crew and their bumbling captain. The Orville is the name of their ship which is a lot like the USS Enterprise. The crew is both alien and human who bind together to explore the outer reaches of space and deal with familiar, more humorous issues like marital spats. Ed Mercer played by MacFarlane commands the USS Orville with his ex-wife Kelly Grayson as the First Officer.
