Not surprising at all, Netflix has renewed one of our favorite Marvel shows yet. ‘The Punisher’ will be returning for a second season, giving Frank Castle fans a reason to be excited this week.
The first season of the show was, in our opinion, fantastic, but maybe a bit of a slow burn. The character development and overlap of several timelines gave Castle plenty of time to simmer in the first half of the season, and then turn action-packed toward the second half.
As a warning, for those less familiar with ‘The Punisher’ this is one of the most violent of the Netflix shows yet, and even for those of us who were expecting that to be the case, the second half of the show definitely outdid it a bit. Regardless, the show’s story was enough to keep us engaged.
No word yet on when the second season will air, most likely sometime in late 2018 or early 2019. It is common for Netflix to film the first two seasons of any show they sign though, so there could be a quick turnaround for the second season, and then more of a gap between the second and third.
Many questions hover over the Marvel and Netflix deal, however, as Disney is making some moves to start their own streaming service. With that in mind, we’ll be watching closely to see how this might affect the relationship down the road.
