Live streams of television, and most importantly live streams of sports, always seemed like a bit of a pipe dream a decade ago, before the concept of cutting the cord was even a thing. But as of late, with services like Sling TV, it has never been easier to create a nearly identical experience to cable.

Today, Sling TV announced that they’re making it even easier to access their service, with an expansion onto Apple TV, one of the largest set top streaming devices. While services like Amazon Prime Video remain strangely absent from Apple TV, it’s nice to see the set top box sign another big deal with an up-and-coming cord cutting service like Sling.

“Delivering the best TV experience for our viewers means being on the devices people want to use — Apple TV is our most requested platform, and we’re excited to finally bring Sling TV to Apple TV today,” said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. “Incorporating Apple TV innovations like touch with the Siri Remote will enable Sling TV’s new UI to deliver the highly polished experience Apple fans have come to expect.”

Another bit of good news includes Sling introducing a bunch of new channels to their offering, meaning subscribers will get access to a handful of new shows through their accounts. We have confirmed with Sling that the following channels are joining the service:

“The Viacom channels are a great addition to Sling TV, offering a variety of content that appeals to many audiences,” said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. “By delivering these channels to consumers in our core and ‘Extra’ packs, we are giving them the flexibility to personalize their Sling TV service to fit their needs.”

Sling TV has been expanding its offering competitively in order to keep up with Hulu, who is looking to jump into the live streaming game, but at a much higher price point here in the near future.
