Anyone who has logged into Netflix this month probably noticed a different rating system.
Instead of the standard five-start rating that subscribers have been used to over the past decade, everyone is now seeing a ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down.’
People generally hate change, especially in well-respected user experience, and sometimes these design adjustments can just take a while to get used to. But functionally speaking, a lot of people are complaining about how limiting this new system is to their tastes.
While a lot of people are missing that the ‘thumbs up’ and ‘thumbs down’ functionality is actually a way to build a more consistent homepage library. Think of it similar to Pandora, where the thumbs up and down tells Netflix how to better display future titles.
Regardless, the internet is up in arms:
Now that’s a pretty promising sign, though, that Netflix is willing to test things out a bit here. Let them know if you have the change!
