The Paramount Plus ‘Star Trek’ Will Be Called ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ – Premiere January 2017

When we learned that CBS would release their new ‘Star Trek’ series exclusively through their streaming app Paramount Plus, it marked an interesting mile marker for streaming services. As networks turn to direct streaming of their content, the traditional television model continues to evolve.

Fans have been pining for details about the new ‘Star Trek’ series, and now we have an official name as well as a brief teaser trailer, which you can watch below.

The series will be called ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ and will start streaming January 2017.

No real details around cast or plot focus yet, but we have heard rumors that the series will take place before ‘The Next Generation.’ With ‘Star Trek: Beyond’ premiering in theaters, apparently there was a delay in launching ‘Discovery’ but it looks like we’re all set for a January 2017 premiere for the new series, which is going to sneak up on us very, very fast.
