Amazon Orders Third Season of ‘Transparent’
|Well this is certainly welcome news.
Amazon announced today on the wire that they will be renewing ‘Transparent’ for a third season, before the second season has even been released. The show follows Maura Pfefferman (born Morton L. Pfefferman) as she reveals to her family her transition from male to female, and the show follows this conversation closely, offering both a humorous and heartfelt look at the scenario. But despite the comedic themes, the show dives deep into the reality of transgender issues alongside the complicated relationships of the Pfefferman family, with several issues of its own unrelated to their father’s transition.
For those unfamiliar, Transparent is Amazon’s most successful original series released to-date, with critical appeal, winning several awards including two Golden Globes for both Best Television Series – Comedy, and Best Male Actor – Comedy. The show has been applauded for its focus on a sophisticated conversation about transgender issues.
The show has also developed a decent audience for Amazon. While no viewership numbers have been released, the fact that Amazon is ordering a third season before a single episode of season two has premiered should be awfully telling.
Still no specific release date for season two, but with this news, we predict an announcement shortly. Stay tuned.
